Achieving Spectacular Heights
A new world record for a painting by Ethel Magafan was achieved during Pridham’s most recent International Fine & Decorative Arts Sale. With an estimate of $2,000 – $3,000, spirited bidding led her mural study, Threshing, to sell for $62,000. The rarity of Magafan’s work, in particular those created during the Great Depression, is what drove over forty bidders from around the world to participate in the auction.
